Lamb, Mutton, and Sheep Milk

Our Grass-fed Sheep

Our sheep graze from May through October and happily consume hay in the winter months. They are raised on organic pastures with access to salt and minerals for optimal health. Currently, we raise crosses of East Friesian, Texel, and North Country Cheviot sheep — the latter two being high-quality meat breeds.

In addition to producing fine wool and delicious meat, our sheep are raised with the same care and attention we give to all our animals. Lambs are 100% grass-fed, producing primo lamb chops, roasts, ground, stew, and shank. Throughout the year, we offer both lamb and mutton.

Our Wool & Fiber Program

Every spring, we open our barns to celebrate sheep shearing day — an annual event where award-winning shearer Jeff Burchstead of Buckwheat Blossom Farm shears our flock in preparation for lambing season. Read our blog here to learn more about this fun event!

Interested in processing your own raw fiber? We sell unprocessed fleece on or after sheep shearing day.

About Golden Fleece Farm’s Sheep’s Milk & Yogurt

The sheep’s milk sold at Misty Brook Farm Store is produced by Golden Fleece Farm, one of our trusted distribution partners.

  • Raw Sheep’s Milk: A seasonal item available when the sheep graze outdoors.

  • Golden Fleece Farm sheep graze organic pastures and eat organic hay year-round. While their milk itself isn’t certified, this allows them to grow their herd responsibly until they can source only organic-bred animals.
