Misty Brook Farm is a 600-acre certified organic farm in Albion, Maine. We are an awesome team of year round staff, the Holmes family (Katia, Brendan, Alistair, John, and William), and Grandmas Jacqui and Lynn. Together, we work to produce organic, 100% grass-fed raw Jersey cow’s milk and cream, 100% grass-fed beef, milk-fed rose veal, grass-fed lamb, pasture-raised pork, soy-free eggs, and grains. Prior to settling in Albion, the Holmes family ran a diversified livestock and vegetable operation on leased land around Hardwick, Massachusetts from 2004 through 2013. They cultivated a supportive community in the Greater Boston areas as they raised food on land spread out over four towns and owned by over a dozen landlords! Patching together a quilt of leased farmland across the region was not sustainable, and ultimately led the family to search for land to call their own. Through the New England Farmlink and the “Buy, Protect, Sell” programs, the family eventually found and settled on what is now the beautiful Misty Brook Farm in Maine!

Since 2016, Misty Brook has been a Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) designated “Forever Farm.” MFT lined up a combination of state and federal grant funds to finance an agricultural conservation easement and lower the resale price, which put the purchase within reach of the Holmes family. Coming up on a decade of farming in Maine, Misty Brook has found a new community of supportive and loyal customers and partners. We are grateful for every single one of them: for standing by our side as we navigated through the PFAS contamination discovered in spring of 2022, for trusting us to steward the land and provide food for our family and yours with integrity, honesty, and transparency.
