    Open Farm Day 2026

    Event Title: Open Farm Day at Misty Brook Date & Time: Sunday, July 26 at 8am-5pm Location: Misty Brook Farm – 156 Bog Rd. Albion, Maine Admission: FREE Statewide Event! We will be participating in Maine’s state-wide Open Farm Day! Come to our farm in Albion for self-guided tours around the farm: meet the horses, lambs, chickens, pigs, and dairy cows. Stock up in our Farm Store on organic and grass-fed meats, dairy, and pantry staples from our farm and others. Hayrides will be offered 11:30am-1pm on a first-come first-serve basis, rain or shine.     Annual Sheep Shearing Day!

    Come visit the farm! Our Annual Sheep Shearing Day offers a close look at an important part of farm life. Watch Jeff of Buckwheat Blossom Farm (learn more about Jeff here) shear the winter coats off our girls as we prepare for lambing season. This year, sheep from both Misty Brook Farm and Golden Fleece will be sheared. Golden Fleece is a small flock that lives alongside the Misty Brook sheep and is operated by Becca, a member of the Misty Brook Farm staff.     Building a More Resilient Future – Our New Wood Boiler Project

    A Big Step Forward for Farm Resilience This year, Misty Brook Farm received a 50% cost-share Implementation Grant through Maine Farmland Trust’s Farming for the Long Haul program. With that support, we were finally able to move ahead on a project we’ve talked about for years: installing a new wood boiler system that will make the farm more resilient for the long haul. The building isn’t finished yet and nothing is hooked up, but the concrete is poured, the boiler is set, and the structure is going up. It feels good to see this one starting to take shape.     Microburst Storm at Misty Brook

    A severe storm hit the heart of Misty Brook at 6pm on July 28th, 2015. It looked like a thunderstorm, but arrived like a hurricane. When it hit there was no visibility. Plum size hale, torrential, rain, and 70 mile per hour winds whipped and pummeled the farm in all directions. This down blast lasted 10 minutes and when it ceased there was mayhem. Our garden soil flowed down the hill as we rounded up all the shell shocked livestock that had run through their fences. With power lined down everywhere, we got the tractor hooked to the generator and milked the cows late. By the time we were done…
